Show What You Know!

(Science Luncheon)

Each year, the South Campus Science Department faculty host a luncheon for students. I volunteered in 2016 to head the luncheon committee. This luncheon was created to showcase some of the student results of varied assessments used in my BSC1005 and BSC2011 courses. This included a reading of a children's book on Mitosis and Meiosis and listening to a rap on curing Zombies using a cocktail of neurotransmitters.

Attendees of the luncheon participated in game shows such as Pictionary. Students had to choose 10 terms related to science and draw them for their team to guess what the drawing was. The winning team won prizes.

A chemistry demonstration was given to show how different colors of the rainbow could be recreated by placing dry ice in water in the presence of a universal pH indicator. The water changes different colors as the the dry ice lowers the pH of the water.
